Did Our Evolution Lead To The Concept Of The Ultimate Alpha Male, God?

Like some of our close relatives the Chimps, Bonobos and Gorillas, we are a communal primate whose societies are usually headed by an alpha male (I know, Bonobos are not strictly like this). Did evolution, therefore, predispose us to invent God, the immortal alpha male? And if so, is it ironic that those who most vehemently deny evolution, ardently prostrate themselves before their invented alpha male?

      I agree 100%. First I believe evolution by natural selection is a simple, clear, unambiguous explanation of how all living things developed, not only in their physical being, but in their emotions, their traits, their habits, their mores, and etc. The Alpha male developed in the ancient tribes, the King was the later incarnation, along with Pharaoh, and even the Lords and Princes of the last few centuries were thought to be ‘descended from heaven’ or were the end-lineage of a heavenly family tree. ‘God’, or ‘gods’ were just a natural extension of earthly Kings.

      That’s not the reason. I believe it was due to mankind’s curiosity and need to have an explanation for mysteries. And the top mystery is, why are we here? If you think about it, back in those times that is the most logical answer to that question, before Darwin observed that we have evolved. Some time after the concept of god was widespread, man furthered the idea and created religion as a way of instilling morals and controlling the masses.

      not really, but we do seek out to find patterns and ascribe causes for events, the first cultures had a god for nearly every category of event (fire, lighting, water, animals, people, good and bad, day, night, etc) eventually while trying to unify peoples (another thing we’re predisposed to do) we started talking about TRUE gods, and salvation, and that eventually morphed into fear mongering, war, genocide, and overall scism of “us” and “them” which goes against human nature
      if you’re really interested in this you should take a history of theology course at your local comm. college
