This is about an answer gelfling made.
In his/her answer he/she said, “Buddhists and Muslims don’t try to push their religion on others via the laws and schools, and disrespectful preaching and proselytizing.”
I won’t debate the whole Buddhist thing because, to my knowledge, they don’t. But what about Muslims? Has he/she any idea that Muslims are pushing for their own, separate code of law in various European countries? They can be judged by THEIR own set of standards (which are pretty low)! They have forced banks to give them loans without interest (another one of their laws) while we (non-Muslims) pay through the nose! In a Christian man’s office he had a picture of Jesus- a Muslim WALKED BY his office and saw it through the glass and complained so they had him take it down. Muslim cab drivers are breaking company rules because they won’t accept dogs in their cab- they get away with it! And the list goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on.…………
In reference to when he said, “And, of course, it’s THE most violent and immoral book ever written, and no GOOD, MORAL person would follow it. Of course, most Christians have never read the entire Bible. See Source.

This man/woman also gave some verses, which “proved” the Bible’s violence. Here is my rebuttal.
Luke 19:27 Jesus said, “But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.”
An innocent verse taken out of context and said very misleadingly. Jesus was teaching through means of a parable in this situation. He was not saying anyone should harm anyone.
Genesis 6:7 “And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.”
Another verse taken out of context and made to sound bad… If you just look in verse 5 you will see it said, “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of their heart was only evil continually.”
Is it so wrong to destroy a people who are entirely evil? In case you don’t know, he did spare those who deserved to live (Noah, his sons, etc).
Exodus 10:20 “But the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go.”
He makes it sound as if God was forcing the people into staying as slaves… That’s not what God was doing- as anyone who knows the Bible can tell you that. God ended up freeing them, but He needed Pharaoh to keep them a while longer because He needed to gain the Children of Israel’s loyalty (it’s a long complicated story, I won’t bother to fully explain it).
Numbers 31:17-18 “Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.”
The people Moses ordered the Children of Israel to kill were Midianites, a group of people WHO ATTACKED THEM WHEN THEY WERE BEING COMPLETELY PEACEFUL. The reason he told them to kill all males and any women who were old or with child was because they would want revenge against Israel for conquering them. Young girls would present no threat- the others would (and they had to take them because if they didn’t they would die by themselves).
Isaiah 13:16 “Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.”
The Children of Israel did not do this. Nor did God command them to do this. It is a foretelling of Babylon being destroyed by other nations. Nothing wrong with this verse either…
Leviticus 20:9 “For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death . . . ”
It’s not saying curseth in the swearing way. If you look at the old definition of curse you will see it means to threaten in a serious manner to do some great harm or to actually act on your threat. If you had a child who intended to, at the very least, maim you, wouldn’t you kill him first?
Exodus 32:27 “. . . Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.”
They needed to kill their brothers, neighbors, companions, etc, because they sinned greatly.
Exodus 31:15 ” . . . whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.”
God made the Sabbath day sacred, it was so sacred it was even included in the Ten Commandments. Everyone knew it- they had ample warning. So if they did break it, well, they knew well in advance and they had their chance.
Deut 21:21 “And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die . . . ”
This was in reference to the rebellious child, and as I already explained this, there’s no need for further explanation.
And one more thing. He/she said, “If Christians didn’t use the Bible as a weapon, it wouldn’t be used back towards them. Simpler put: ‘Don’t preach in my school, and I won’t think in your church.’”
May I remind this person that there are more Christians in most schools than atheists? So why is it that they can teach their atheistic views but when we want our views taught we’re all of a sudden “using the Bible as a weapon?” They push their views and that’s cool, but when we want our children taught what we believe is right we’re being “Bible-thumpers.” Do you notice any hypocrisy in this?

If Christians didn’t use the Bible as a weapon, it wouldn’t be used back towards them. Simpler put: “Don’t preach in my school, and I won’t think in your church.”

      That’s a link to an article about Harvard. Apparently 6, only 6, Muslim women complained about working out in the gym because men are there. Harvard has closed the gym for men at certain hours to accommodate these SIX Muslims. Do you think they would do that for any other group of 6 people, let’s say for 6 overweight women who might be “uncomfortable” working out with men around? I doubt it.
      Other schools, including public schools, have allowed special rooms for Muslims to pray in. Airports and universities are putting in feet washers for Muslims because of their complaining. There are areas of Europe (in France, Belgium, England for example) that Shariah Law is in place and the law enforcement of said country will not even venture into these islamic communities for fear of violence.
      Most people think ALL religions promote love and peace. They obviously have never read the quran or ahadith. Islam is about submission, intolerance and world domination and the stupid or ignorant PC world is giving in to their demands.

      In the country I live in they comprise only 1 or 2 percent of the population so, yeah, they don’t really have the power to push anything (and with the exception of one girl on an airplane coming back from Hajj, they never really proselytize, in my experience). Sure, they can be vocal in their agreement when the current administration does things like promoting abstinence only sex education – but that’s not the same as pushing for laws (because for all I know, there’s an even greater number who disagree but know their voice means nothing against this administration).

      about wanting their own law …if you have any knowledge of islam whatsoever you will know that actually sharia law is far more strict than your laws,,so for them to live under sharia law is no picnic
