You should be the alpha male not your dog. I think it would be best to get a female and the same breed would be ideal. As long as your dog is well socialized it should get along with any type of dog you decide to get.

OK, first thing is you have to teach the dog that you are the Alpha male. If not you will have a very hard time training him for anything. The next thing is to remember is that Pits are dog aggressive, may love people but not other dogs. Yours is young so still a puppy which will make it easier.
If you love Pits, as I do, get another Pit.
I have a 4 yr old APBT and a 3 1/2 month old APBT. We went through the aggression thing with the older Pit when my grandson brought the puppy home. The older dog would growl and snap at the puppy. My grandson happened to watch an episode of Dog Whisper where they were training a dog to not go after a rabbit. He used the same thing he saw on our dog to get it used to the puppy, it worked. They are best buddies now.

Five kittens and two teacup anything. Will last for over a week.
ANYWAY : since you obviously don't have a clue, concentrate on your dog just to make sure he's well balanced and SUBMISSIVE animal.
Thank you.

I would get another pitbull but just a female one this time. Make sure you spay her. Or get another dog that is about the same size as him. Make sure he isn't aggressive towards other dogs because if he is, another dog isn't a good idea.

Getting another dog would be the furthest thing from my mind if I owned a young aggressive Pit. You need to run your dog twice a day and teach him some manners. Otherwise bringing another dog in will just lead to rivalry and jealousy and the Pit will snap and chew your leg off. Or go off on the neighbor's kid. You really have to understand Rotts and Pits and Dobies in order to own one. Dobermans are probably the easiest to train.

Well first off your pitt bull should NOT be alpha to anything. If you are the alpha, as you're supposed to be, then your dog should be able to get along with any breed you choose. Before you go looking for a second dog make sure that YOU are the one in charge, or you will have issues. Especially with a pittie. If you are the pack leader to your dogs then they will get along, because there will be no reason for them to fight each other for domination if they already have someone to follow.

Is your pit, dog aggressive? Does he get along well with other animals? If he is not dog aggressive and gets along will with other animals then I would suggest something that is around the same size as him but a female and also not another dominant breed unless you know that it will be submissive to him. One thing I would suggest is going to the local shelter and take him with you and check out the dogs available there. See if there is one that you and he both like and he seems to get along well with. Good luck.

Get a female pitbull at a shelter. I GUARENTEE there are tons of pitbulls at the shelter, the males might fight though, because it is a female... Make sure shes spayed too.

A little scary here with you outlining he is the alpha. Does that mean he is already dog aggressive? If so, consider having 1 dog.
If he is fine with other dogs, definitely go female. I would stick to the same or a smilier type breed. Staffordshire Terrier, Boxer, Bull Terrier, etc. -- If you get a male in any of these types of breeds, look out for some fights.
