People with low esteem and confidence are selfish because they don't believe in themselves, have no confidence that they're gonna be able to sustain themselves from one period of time to the next. I know that I will never go hungry, even if I have no money. What’s wrong with this website to find those answers? My advice to you is to try to avoid people whose attitudes for some reason or other affect you, or if you cannot entirely avoid them expect the behavior and work around it or develop techniques for doing so. It may take some experimenting with the person in question, but once you see what works best with him/her, keep doing it. I just wanted to mention that searching for coherence in human behavior could be very frustrating.
