What Laws Protect Men And Children Who Suffer From Violence?

Filed in Category Monthly Man Laws

In an earlier question about the violence against women act, the following point was made:
“Women are less likely than men to be victims of violent crimes overall. 5 year old boys in the USA are twice as likely than girls to be murdered .
They deserve more than a footnote in a major law, IMO.”
I have some questions relating to it.
Men are more often the victim of violent crime, but where and how are such crimes committed? Are they crimes of domestic violence?
In relation to child homicide, under what circumstances is it committed and by whom?
Is the major reason for child homicide the fact that abused women face extreme difficulty in removing themselves and their children from abusers?
Was VAWA designed to help this problem?
Finally, is it appropriate to conflate statistics on violent crimes within the general populace with that occurring within the context of family?

Most crimes of violence against both men and women are committed by men. Men ARE more often the victims of violent crime but these crimes are rarely crimes of domestic abuse, but instead of male on male violence.
And most laws about violence assume that the male is the norm, which is why almost all legal language uses the word ‘he’ to describe people in general.
Anti-dv laws were specifically written with women in mind because until a few years ago, violence against women in a domestic situation was not considered ‘real’ violence. Women were discouraged from reporting it and castigated when they did, as being ‘disloyal’.
There are stats out the wazoo to support this, but it won’t make a bit of difference to the greek chorus of naysayers here ~ they have an agenda, not an interest in the truth.
      Cheers :-)

Protective legislation should be all inclusive.
“This bar graphs shows that approximately two-fifths (40.8%) of child victims were maltreated by their mothers acting alone; another 18.8 percent were maltreated by their fathers acting alone; 16.9 percent were abused by both their mother and father. Victims abused by a nonparental perpetrator accounted for 13.4 percent of the total.”
“This pie chart indicates that 30 percent of child fatalities were perpetrated by the mother acting alone. Three-quarters (78.2%) of fatalities were cause by one or more parents. Such nonparental perpetrators as daycare providers, foster parents, or residential facility staff were responsible for 17.7 percent of fatalities.”

My point was that there are no specific laws designed to help MALE victims.
Perhaps, my response was out of context but I stand firm by my statements.
Oh, btw, the majority of crimes against children are committed by family members which should fall under domestic or family abuse, yet, even children get token mention in VAWA.
I am not trying to vilify women, I am a woman and mother myself.
My only concern is for victims of crimes, men, women or children.
There are criminals and there are law abiding citizens who become victims. The only separation should be in those two categories………perpetrators and victims.

Any time society enacts laws or legislation offering protection for one gender or one specific group – they lose my support.
We have seen – in this forum – the reactions of men when VAWA is discussed. Could this possibly lead to more violence against women, from men who feel alienated or frustrated by what they perceive as ’special consideration’ under the law?
We need to regard all humans – regardless of gender and age – as precious. And laws should be designed to protect ALL.

Lets not beat around the bush and i do not mean unshaved vagina. No law protecting men will happen because femmys will see it as supressing them. Men would not report an assault if they are like me because 1) Most guys would fight back from an assault instead of running to the police 2) If a women attacked a guy the man would feel a little ashamed and chances are if he did report it, he wouldn’t be taken seriously.
Personally, if a chick hit me, that bitc* better have dental insurance.

60% of murdered children are killed by their parents. There is NO excuse for a mother or father to kill their child, none.
Men are attacked at home as often as women and are murdered overall much more often. Yet, there is no VA Children Act or a VA Men Act.
VAWA was designed by the powerful feminist lobby to demonize men.

There’s some laws that protect children, and of course it is looked down upon.
Men, however, doesn’t have anything to protect them from violence. Since we’re the “lesser” of the sexes or whatever.

Same as the ones protecting women!
1st wife taught Karate for a living and she’d beat the
crap out of me after a few drinks! This happened often!
Now that was embarrassing to report!
but I did, and she got 6 months, and I got the kids and left!!

VAWA also deals with domestic violence with men and kids. More women die of domestic violence than men do so this was a problem that needed to be recognized. Until about 20 years ago domestic violence was considered a personal issue.

Unfortunately, men are unlikely to report for fear of the social stigmas, even when protecting children is at stake. Come on, guys. We need you to make your voices heard.
Say it loud. Say it often. Get righteous.

vawa doesn’t give a sh*t about men. They will reconize that women are being beaten but they will ignore when violence is commited against men.
we will never have protection all because of femish*t.
